30 years of television in Brazil The first broadcasts in Brazil were for the 1950 World Cup, which the country hosted. Television was formally introduced on September 18 in that same year, with the launch of the now-defunct TV Tupi in São Paulo by media mogul Assis Chateaubriand. 20th anniversary of TV Cultura
TV Cultura was founded in 1960 by Diários Associados and Rede de Emissoras Associadas, which also owned TV Tupi. TV Cultura is a free Brazilian television network headquartered in São Paulo and a part of Fundação Padre Anchieta since 1969. TV tower in Brasilia
The Brasília TV Tower was completed in 1967 (the observation platform opened in 1965) at a height of 218 meters. The tower rose another six meters after additions by the TV channel Bandeirantes for the current height of 224 meters. The tower is the fourth tallest structure in Brazil. Video on Youtube
